Summarization and Analysis of Site Characteristics for SMR Block Construction

#PR-228

2025 April-September

International Science and Technology Center (ISTC)

The site of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP) and its surrounding impact zone have been studied multiple times—during the periods 1975–1984, in 1995, 1998, and 2011. However, the results of these studies have never been systematized into a unified data set or comprehensively analyzed.

The aim of this project is to systematize and analyze the data obtained from those studies. The results of the project will serve as a necessary informational basis for the planned construction of a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) in Armenia, including the assessment of a potential site, as well as for evaluating the environmental impact during the decommissioning of the currently operating ANPP.
