The ARPEGEO project was designed to establish a tripartite institutional partnership between Institute for Environmental Sciences at the University of Geneva (ISE/UNIGE), the Center for Ecological-Noosphere Studies (CENS) NAS RA, and the Institute for Informatics and Automation Problems (IIAP) NAS RA.

The Institutional Partnership project was aimed at building capacities of Armenia’s two leading institutions in regard to the management, processing, and sharing of geospatial data in the environmental domain.

In order to achieve high quality time- and cost-effective environmental assessment and research studies in Armenia, a strong standardized Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) was deployed dedicated to a wide array of environmental data. CENS was equipped with Geoserver on which a suite of open-source GIS software were installed (OpenGeo (195.250.88.40/dashboard), GeoNetwork (195.250.88.40/geonetwork)), which enables CENS to be one of the key providers of geospatial environmental data in Armenia.
