"Healthy Land" Concept: Scientific Approaches and Perception in Armenia
02.07.2024

Lilit Sahakyan, the director of CENS, spoke about the importance of land, people's attitude towards it, scientific approaches and development prospects in the frame of H1 news.
Lilit Sahakyan emphasized that it is necessary to change humanity's consumer approach to land and bring it into line with the global "healthy land" concept. Land should not be viewed only as a source of food or as a space for economic activity.
Over the past 30 years, CENS has conducted multidisciplinary soil research.
Educational programs starting from preschool are essential. In this regard, the
UNESCO chair operating at CENS allows children to visit the ecocenter and learn to sample the soil correctly, understand the chemical quality of the environment from an early age.
L. Sahakyan also notes that agricultural activities in Armenia are not subjected to EIA expertise, which leads to unregulated practices.
In order to solve the existing problems, the relevant authorities must dialogue with science to make effective decisions.
